About Us

We’ll take care of every aspect of arranging a funeral from the initial consultation to assisting you in choosing the right type of funeral, services and products through to collecting donations for the charity of your choice.

Our Story

We have been supporting local families in the North Cotswold area for over forty years. We have a deep connection to this unique part of the country and, throughout our history, our staff have served its community by living and working in its villages and parishes.

We are proud to be an independent business that is owned and staffed by local people, This enables us to better know the needs and concerns of our customers and source the best local services to ensure the highest quality bereavement care.

We predominantly serve the communities surrounding Northleach, Bourton-on-the-Water, Stow-on-the-Wold, Moreton-in-Marsh, Chipping Campden, and Shipton-under-Wychwood.

We have arranged funerals for all denominations – religious and non-religious – and, over the years, we have catered for all types of individual requests and requirements.

Care the Wright Way

We aim to provide meaningful ways for our families to commemorate the loss of their loved ones and to help families not only mourn their loss but to celebrate and reflect upon the life lived.

We provide a compassionate, supportive and professional service to gently guide you through the many decisions that need to be made at a time when decision-making can be difficult. As a family-owned local funeral home, our staff live in and are part of our local community supporting our neighbours and friends during periods of vulnerability, mental and emotional stress.

We offer a transparent service and pricing policy enabling you to make informed choices in a safe and non-pressurised environment to suit all budgets and being mindful of all religious and cultural backgrounds.

We hold ourselves and the conduct of our funeral home to the continuing ideals of fairness, openness and honesty and we practise to the highest standards demanded not only of our own staff but through the continued acceptance of our membership by SAIF (The National Society of Allied and Independent Funeral Directors).

Our Funeral Directors

Funeral Director Cotswolds

Rachael Pickard

Managing Funeral Director

Rachael joined W J Wright in 2016, having previously worked for an independent family funeral director in Gloucestershire and for a corporate funeral company in Warwickshire. However, it can be said that home is where the heart lies and this is definitely where Rachael feels she is best placed - in a family-owned funeral home. It allows her to offer her families the attention, the time and the continuity of care that is so important to a grieving family.

W J Wright Funeral Directors are led by two lady funeral directors, if you would like to speak to either Rachael or Natasha about any aspect of arranging a funeral or general bereavement care and advice please call on 01451 810700.

Funeral Director Cotswolds

Natasha Flynn

Senior Funeral Director

Natasha Flynn is one of our Senior Funeral Directors at W J Wright. Natasha knew from the age of 16 that she wanted to work in the funeral industry. There were a limited number of funeral director positions for women at that time so she volunteered her services and worked a number of years for free just to learn the trade.

Natasha enjoys working for an Independent Funeral Director "because of the traditional family values it has". She says it allows her to "devote time to families and serve their exact needs".

If you would like to speak with Natasha or have any questions about the loss of a loved one or arranging a funeral, please call 01451 810700

Funeral Director Cotswolds

Julie Smith

Funeral Director

Julie has been looking after families and arranging funerals for over thirteen years. She has recently joined our team and enjoys the diversity that the job brings in an independently run funeral home. In her spare time Julie devotes herself to helping those around her in the local community and is currently one of the church wardens at St Lawrence’s Church in Bourton on the Water. She is a friendly and well known face within the community.
